A spirited Hull City were overcome by a last-gasp Marcus Rashford goal at the KCOM Stadium.

The 13 men of Hull have already won hearts and minds this season for their two opening wins in this year’s Premier League, and they almost won a whole lot more until Marcus Rashford tapped him in the 92nd minute to deprive Mike Phelan’s men of a deserved point.
From the match stats, Hull were completely overwhelmed by United. They had only 38% possession and managed just eight shots on goal compared to 29.
And yet Hull were so close to a famous victory. Tom Huddlestone’s deflected pot-shot came close to a surprise opener, before David Meyler shot just over in injury-time.
Hull had hardly managed to take stock after the near-miss before Rooney and Rashford combined at the other end to break Hull hearts.
The moment Hull fans didn’t want to see
The result was particularly cruel on defenders Curtis Davies and Jake Livermore who had fought so commendably to nullify United’s attacking threats.
It was backs-to-the-wall stuff but Hull were just unable to hold on against Jose Mourinho’s embarrassment of attacking riches, with one lapse in concentration all it takes against the likes of Rooney and Rashford.
On social media, the club have sought the views of fans with many choosing to describe their heroes’ performances in three words. There is certainly a lot of pride in the club from its fans after today’s battle.
Whilst it might be tempting not to change a thing given the start to the season, Hull will return from the international break with their future a lot more certain. They should have sorted a full squad, a manager, and a new owner as they continue the fight to stay in the top flight.
