Newly-signed Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has outlined to The Chronicle the mood among the players in training
Newcastle have already started pre-season training, as they prepare for life in the Championship.
The Magpies will feature in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Gayle, who recently joined Newcastle from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace for a transfer fee reported by The London Evening Standard to be worth £10 million, has outlined the positive mood among the players in training.
“If anything it feels like they have come up from the division below, almost,” Gayle told The Chronicle. “It feels like everyone is optimistic about the season and everyone is buzzing. It looks like it will be a positive season.”
Gayle’s comments should please Newcastle fans, who will be expecting the team to finish in the top two of the Championship next season.
The Magpies are one of the biggest clubs in England and are building a strong team for the 2016-17 Championship campaign.
With former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Benitez in charge, Newcastle have a very good chance of getting automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
From Gayle’s comments, it seems that the players are positive and optimistic about a successful season.
