Dwight Gayle has told Sky Sports that the best thing about playing for Newcastle United is the fact that he gets to play in front of such passionate supporters at St James’ Park.
Gayle surprised some by dropping out of the Premier League in the summer to join the recently-relegated Magpies, but his decision certainly appears to have been vindicated during the first few months of the campaign.

Rafael Benitez’s men are flying high in the table, and promotion back to the top flight seems to be almost inevitable. And Gayle seemingly suggested that the fans have had a big role to play in their success when explaining the best part of playing for the club.
“Playing in front of 52,000 fans every week and selling out away stadiums every week as well. It’s fantastic and amazing to play in front of them,” he told Sky Sports when asked what the best thing about playing for Newcastle is.
For all the positivity that currently exists on Tyneside, there is a small question mark hanging over them following their last two results.
They have suffered defeats to both Blackburn and Nottingham Forest, and have watched their lead at the table’s summit reduced to just one point.
But they undoubtedly have the quality within their ranks to turn their form around. Gayle has scored 13 goals in just 15 league games this term so it would be no surprise if he is the man to end their short wait for a win against Birmingham this Saturday and please 52,000 supporters once again.
