Newcastle United loaned out Dwight Gayle to West Bromwich Albion last term, but he reportedly wants another chance at St. James’ Park.

Dwight Gayle is surely close to getting his wish of staying at Newcastle United next season.
The Chronicle claim that Gayle wants to stay with Newcastle in the hope of impressing their new boss.
The striker, who was set to be sold for £20 million this summer (Northern Echo) if Rafael Benitez had stayed in charge, has struggled at Premier League level.
However, Gayle enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at West Bromwich Albion in the Championship last term, and is now said to want another crack at the top flight.
There were some doubts over whether Newcastle would look to keep Gayle this summer, but right now it’s surely unlikely he’ll leave.
Gayle looks set to become the biggest goalscoring threat in Newcastle’s squad in the coming days, once Ayoze Perez leaves for Leicester City, against all the odds.

When Gayle left Newcastle for West Brom he was at least third choice, with Salomon Rondon and Perez ahead of him in the pecking order.
But if Newcastle lose Perez, then Yoshinori Muto and Joselu are the only other senior strikers the Magpies have.
Gayle looks to be a better option than either of that duo, and it seems likely that the clinical striker will at least have pre-season to try and force his way back into the plans at St. James’ Park.
