Dwight Gayle joined Newcastle United from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are one of the favourites to finish in the top two.

The Magpies, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, are currently third in the league table, just three points behind leaders Huddersfield Town.

A number of Newcastle players are doing well at the moment, one of them being Dwight Gayle.

Gayle has proved to be the best signing that Newcastle made in the summer. The 25-year-old striker joined the Magpies from Premier League side Crystal Palace for a transfer fee reported by The London Evening Standard to be worth £10 million.

During his time at Selhurst Park, the striker failed to make a huge impact in the Premier League, but he has been a hit for Newcastle in the Championship so far this season.

As the above Opta Stats table shows, Gayle has been banging in the goals for fun for Newcastle so far this season.

The Magpies may be third in the Championship table now, but one should not be surprised if they finish top and Gayle ends up as the top scorer in the division.
