Dwight Gayle scores for Crystal Palace
Speaking to the Chronicle, Dwight Gayle has revealed what Alan Pardew told him about his move to Newcastle United.
Gayle became Newcastle’s second signing of the summer transfer window last week when he completed a move from Crystal Palace.
He struggled for game time with the Eagles, making just 63 appearances during his three-year spell at the club.

He found game particularly hard to come by under Pardew, who preferred several other strikers ahead of him.
Pardew knows all about Newcastle having managed there for four years between 2010 and 2014, and Gayle has revealed what he told him upon learning of his move to the club.
“To be honest I didn’t speak too much to him about it,” he told the Chronicle.
“He just wished me all the best and to go and prove to myself and other people I can play regular football and get back to the Premier League.”

Gayle will now be hoping that he can hit the ground running at St James’ Park in the Championship next season.
The striker has principally been brought in to score the goals they will need to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, with their current options struggling last season.
He will be confident of doing so too, having shone in the division previously, scoring six goals in 20 games for Peterborough back in 2013.
