Dwight Gayle scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season in Newcastle United’s 2-0 win over Barnsley.

Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has told nufcTV that he is aiming to score at least 20 goals for the Magpies this season.
The summer signing has started his career on Tyneside in sensational fashion, netting 11 goals in his first 13 games with the famous number nine on his back. Gayle is the top scorer in the division and has set a personal target for himself, as well as stating what the team’s aims are.

“I said at the start of the season I wanted to get 20 and that’s my aim right now,” Gayle told nufcTV.
“We’re happy to be top but we’ve got a job to do and we need to aim for that 90, 92 points that we think is going to get promotion.”
Newcastle have now won four games on the bounce after beating Barnsley 2-0, with Gayle scoring seven goals in the impressive run.

The 26-year-old was going to receive limited opportunities at Premier League side Crystal Palace, and has already shown he was right to step back down to the Championship and work under Rafael Benitez.
With just over a quarter of the season gone, it is not unreasonable to expect Gayle to easily hit his 20 goal target, and if he continues to fire then Newcastle should have no difficulties in getting the 90 points they believe will be enough to get them back to the Premier League.
