Rafael Benitez decided to loan out Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle to West Bromwich Albion in the summer.

Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has admitted to the Birmingham Mail that he could see himself at West Bromwich Albion next season.

Gayle has been loaned out by Newcastle to West Brom, and he has made a huge impact at the Hawthorns.

Gayle scored a hat-trick for the Baggies at the weekend, as they beat Preston North End 4-1.

The Newcastle front man now has 21 goals for West Brom this term, and there is a hope around the Midlands club that he will stay on after his loan spell expires.

Indeed, Gayle has suggested that a move away from Newcastle and to West Brom in the summer is definitely a possibility.

“Yes, of course. I’ve really enjoyed the season and the fans have taken to me and shown great support,” the £40,000-a-week (Sportac) striker said.

“In the summer, I’m going to see what happens and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here.”

Whether Newcastle will want to keep Gayle after his impressive season at West Brom remains to be seen.

Newcastle already knew that Gayle was prolific in the Championship, but it is at the top level where he has found goals more difficult.
