Vincent Janssen might not have scored against Swansea in midweek but he did the next best thing, set up a winning goal.

The Dutchman was thrown on with Tottenham trailing 1-0, and made a crucial impact.

He held the ball up impressively and gave Tottenham shape they previously lacked, having struggled without injured striker Harry Kane leading the line.

His contribution saw Tottenham fans select him as man-of-the-match, and his exploits have not gone unnoticed in his native Holland either. His assist was pretty special, a backheel flick through the legs of a defender, into Heung-Min Son’s path.

Dutch outlet Voetball International hailed his performance, describing his assist as a ‘masterpiece’.

The report states: “Despite his very meagre goal average, the Dutchman remains a crowd favorite with his unparalleled work ethic and sobriety.

“Thanks to the remarkable backheel, Tottenham remain in the wake of leaders Chelsea.”

The assist is a crucial confidence boost for Janssen, who has struggled for game time in 2017.

It has taken several months, but he has at last shown he can be a game changer, and this gives him a new lease of life in North London.

Tottenham have needed more of this from Janssen this season, but now he has finally shown he is capable, the onus is on him to kick on, starting this weekend against Watford.
