Patrick Reed picked up his first LIV Golf victory in Dallas, surviving a dramatic finish to claim a long-awaited title.
Reed held a five-shot lead during the final round but saw that advantage disappear as Paul Casey, Louis Oosthuizen and Jinichiro Kozuma all caught him. However, he held his nerve in the playoff, sinking a clutch putt on the first extra hole to seal the win.
The golfer from San Antonio, Texas, must’ve been worried that the tournament was slipping away from his fingers. But he ensured he got it done in the playoff.
He is now doing all he can to get himself back into the media spotlight for positive reasons after a couple of years struggling. Reed will now have The Open Championship at Royal Portrush circled on his calendar as it is the next event of the season.
What Dustin Johnson said about Patrick Reed’s win at LIV Golf Dallas

Johnson finished in a tie for 13th as he finally showed a bit of form, but in fairness to the American, he did have some kind words to say about his friend Reed.
“Obviously it’s a great win. It’s a tough golf course, good field. Pretty much all the top guys played well. It was a good win. Any win out here is good, but it’s hard to win. We’ve got such a great quality of field, and it’s just hard to win,” he said after the event.
Johnson also seemed to agree with the bold opinion that Reed was the best player yet to win a LIV Golf event.
“Yeah, for sure. It was good to see. I’m happy for him, and yeah, it’s a good win.”
Patrick Reed’s reaction to his own win in Dallas
Reed used his Instagram to celebrate his win in Dallas and to thank the fans and close friends for their support. The American also showed respect to his opponents.
“Much respect to the guys in the playoff. That kind of pressure brings out the best in all of us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported me through it all: family, friends, fans, and every single person who’s had my back.
“Feeling grateful, focused, and fired up for what’s next. Now back to work.”
Reed’s next challenge is The Open Championship at Royal Portrush – and his message on social media suggests that he is already training for the tournament.
