Last night, Liverpool coasted into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with an easy 3-0 win over Norwich, who let Jürgen Klopp’s men run riot.
It was a professional display, which saw first-team debuts for Conor Bradley and Kaide Gordon.
On their first outing for the Reds, another player did something he’s never done for Liverpool before, until now.
What’s the story?
Well, with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson left out, Joe Gomez was handed the armband.
According to Liverpool’s official website, it was the first time Gomez has ever captained Liverpool since his arrival from Charlton in a £3.5m deal back in 2015.
It must’ve been quite a moment for the 24-year-old, who endured a tough time last season.

Gomez missed the majority of the campaign after suffering a knee injury in November, while on international duty with England.
Now, he’s battled back, and he looked in top form – both physically and in a footballing sense – at Carrow Road last night.
Joe Gomez one of many leaders at Liverpool
Klopp is blessed with a squad full of leaders.
The German barely needs to say a word on matchday, with the likes of Henderson, Van Dijk, Salah, Gomez and Alexander-Arnold in the side.

Then, Klopp also has the likes of Fabinho, Thiago, Andy Robertson and Alisson, all of whom are senior players with a strong sense of leadership.
It’s no wonder the Reds became champions with this group – there are so many winners, who ensure that standards do not slip.
