Sunderland are currently bottom of the Premier League table.
Sunderland youngster Duncan Watmore has told the club’s official website that everyone at the club is pulling in the right direction.
The Black Cats have endured a torrid start to the campaign, going nine league games without a win and sitting bottom of the table.
Their poor form has also extended to the cup competitions, with Wednesday night seeing them knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton, courtesy of Sofiane Boufal’s superb solo strike.
Questions are already being asked about manager David Moyes, with bookmakers already making him the favourite for the sack.
Watmore is confident of turning things around, though, saying everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“You could say we haven’t had much luck but sometimes you’ve got to earn it, so we will keep working hard for each other and be positive,” he told the club’s official website.
“Our team ethic is very important but we have great lads in the dressing room and good backroom staff, so everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction.”
It remains to be seen if Sunderland can turn things around after such a poor start to the season.
Sitting bottom of the table with just two points to their name after nine games strongly suggests that another battle against relegation is on the cards.
They will need everyone pulling in the same direction and buying into Moyes’ methods and Watmore’s comments should at least provide encouragement in that regard.
