The 29-year-old Slovakia international goalkeeper has suggested that his future at the Magpies depends on whether or not Rafael Benitez’s side retain their top-flight status for the 2018-19 campaign.
Newcastle are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
ChronicleLive quotes Dubravka as saying: “Everything depends mainly on how the team finishes in the top flight or whether we stay in it. In my opinion, it will also affect my future in the club.
“I think Newcastle will be in the Premier League, and then a permanent transfer will be possible,” added Dubravka.
Can Newcastle United survive?
Newcastle do not exactly have a ‘great’ squad, and there is a very good chance that the Magpies will not be safe from relegation until the final week of the season.
What the Magpies do have is a very good manager in Benitez, and fans should remain optimistic.
Dubravka will also be important for Newcastle, as the 29-year-old Slovakia international goalkeeper has played well since his loan move to St. James’ Park in the January transfer window.
