New Celtic midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has explained his ambition for the season.
New Celtic midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has revealed he is aiming to win all three domestic trophies in Scotland this season following his move to Parkhead.
The Bhoys completed the signing of the 31-year-old on Friday, who was a free agent after leaving Kilmarnock in the summer.
Brendan Rodgers has added some extra steel to the centre of the park to compete alongside the likes of Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham.
Mulumbu is an experienced player that played 211 times for English side West Brom earlier in his career and the DR Congo international is renowned as a powerhouse.
The central midfielder was a key player last season for Kilmarnock in Scotland and showed he is still at the peak of his powers.
He has explained his intention is to win the league and both domestic cup competitions this season with Celtic, something the club have done in the last two consecutive years.
“My immediate focus is to stay fit and ready and be 100 per cent ready,” Mulumbu told the club’s official Twitter website.
“The first goal for me is to show to the manager that I’m ready. Anytime he needs me I will respond on the pitch.
“To play in a big team like Celtic is just amazing. I always work very hard and I want to help the young lads here. We have so much to achieve. We need to do well in the Europa League, retain all the domestic trophies and continue winning the Glasgow derbies.”
Mulumbu’s arrival has helped strengthen the options in Rodgers’ squad and he may need to rotate at times amid a busy fixture list.
The Scottish champions discovered their Europa League group stage opponents on Friday afternoon as they were pitted against FC Salzburg, RB Leipzig and Rosenborg BK.
