Some Southampton fans are keen on signing reported transfer target Kevin Malcuit
Southampton are reportedly interested in Lille defender Kevin Malcuit – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have suggested they would welcome his arrival.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Saints have entered the race for the 27-year-old alongside Italian club Napoli.
Malcuit is a French right-back that made 25 appearances across all competitions last season for Lille and managed to chip in with five assists in return.
He is an attack-minded defender that can also play further forward as a winger and has played for a number of French clubs in his career.
Saints manager Mark Hughes has reportedly turned to the Ligue 1 defender and he is one right-back light in his squad following the exit of Jeremy Pied.
They do have mainstay Cedric Soares already in the squad, but could do with some extra competition at St Mary’s ahead of the new season, which they commence at home to Burnley.
Southampton have been fairly busy in the transfer window so far by adding Jannik Vestergaard, Stuart Armstrong, Angus Gunn and Mohamed Elyiunoussi to their squad.
