Should Tottenham reconsider sending Georges-Kevin N’Koudou out on loan?
Tottenham’s Georges-Kevin N’Koudou could reportedly depart on loan for the season, but is manager Mauricio Pochettino taking a risk if he offloads him.
According to Sky Sports, Spurs have agreed a deal with German club Mainz for the 23-year-old to join them on a season-long loan, while talks continue over the possibility of adding an option to buy.
The winger has hardly pulled up trees during his two-year spell with the North London club and failed to make an impact on loan at Burnley in the second half of last season.
However, his potential departure could see Pochettino playing with fire when you consider his current options in wide areas.
Spurs have already lost Heung-Min Son to the Asian Games, while Erik Lamela has been injury prone in recent years and Brazilian Lucas Moura is still adapting to the Premier League.
Dele Alli has proven he can operate from he left flank and cut inside, but there a distinct lack of options in the squad and they could be a couple of injuries away from big trouble.
Spurs will have to negotiate both domestic and European competitions this season, which is why loaning out N’Koudou could backfire in the long run for Pochettino.
N’Koudou is a speed machine that should perhaps be given one more chance to prove himself at Spurs and there is a good chance he will be called upon in the coming months if he stays, but unfortunately reports state he could be joining Mainz.
