Some Tottenham fans have pleaded for Paulo Gazzaniga to get a chance against Watford.
Tottenham will be without first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris at the weekend – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have suggested that manager Mauricio Pochettino promotes Paulo Gazzaniga to the first team to replace him.
Lloris is Spurs’ number one option in goal, but will miss the Premier League game away to Watford on Sunday due to a thigh injury.
That leaves the door open for someone to replace him and experienced Dutchman Michel Vorm has been the back-up goalkeeper on the bench in the opening three league matches this season.
Vorm, 34, is considered the second-choice shot-stopper for the North London club, but he did make a high-profile error in his last game when his side lost 2-1 to Manchester United last season in the FA Cup.
There are a selection of Spurs fans on social media that are convinced Gazzaniga is the right man to replace Lloris between the sticks against Watford.
The 26-year-old is yet to feature in the first team this season for Spurs and is considered third in the goalkeeper pecking order.
The Argentinian shot-stopper arrived from Southampton and he impressed on his only Spurs appearance to date by keeping a clean sheet against Crystal Palace last season in the league.
