Simon Jordan believes West Ham United’s owners were backed into a corner by supporters to spend money.

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes that West Ham United supporters forced the hand of their owners to spend big in this summer transfer window.
The Hammers have been very active in the window so far and welcomed high-profile additions in the shape of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere, Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks and Fabian Balbuena.
There have been protests from some West Ham supporters since leaving the Boleyn ground for the London Stadium, but it appears their ambition has now been matched with some eye-catching transfer business.
They also have ex-Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini at the helm, who has received the backing of co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.
“Pellegrini will have put it on Gold and Sullivan that I will have a decent amount of money to spend or get someone else,” Jordan told talkSPORT.
“I don’t know if Gold and Sullivan would’ve wanted to spend this, but they’ve been put into a situation where the adverse reaction from the fans has forced their hand.”

West Ham now look a far better side on paper going into the new campaign and will want to improve on their 13th-placed Premier League finish from last season.
The Hammers now have a considerable amount of attacking firepower in their ranks, while Pellegrini has also bolstered considerably in defensive areas to try to patch up a weakness from last year.
West Ham’s supporters can be delighted that they have been extremely busy in the window, compared to London rivals Tottenham who are yet to make a single addition.
