Should Tottenham fans read too much into Erik Lamela’s hat-trick in pre-season?

Tottenham ace Erik Lamela dazzled in a pre-season match behind closed doors on Wednesday, but should fans be getting carried away with his performance?
Spurs dismantled League One Southed United 6-0 in a friendly and attacker Lamela was the star of the show with a first-half hat-trick.
The 26-year-old winger combined frequently with Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura throughout the match, as manager Mauricio Pochettino opted to field a strong XI.
Lamela is a huge fan favourite that has been unfortunate with injuries in recent years and supporters will hope he can get back to his very best.
It is certainly too early to read into his display against Southend given the fact it was only a pre-season encounter, but the signs look positive and he did finish the last campaign in style.
The Argentinian trickster scored twice and assisted another on the dramatic final day 5-4 win over Leicester City, something which reminded people of his quality in front of goal.

There is certainly belief that Lamela can start fresh next season with a full pre-season under his belt and fans may even see him start the first game given the amount of players that may be tired from World Cup duties.
The left-footed ace certainly has the technical ability to regain his spot in the starting XI on a permanent basis for Spurs, but fans are unlikely to know until a few games into the new season.
