Newcastle United may reportedly be close to securing a deal for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro.

Newcastle United may finally have received the green light in their reported hunt to sign Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro.

Serie A giants Juventus are about to sanction the Italian enforcer’s switch to St James’ Park, according to Calciomercato.

The report details that a deal is “about to close” and that it could be worth around £13.2million, with the Magpies trying to convince the player of a move to England.

Sturaro, 25, is a combative central midfielder who has four international caps for Italy and is renowned for his defensive work.

Tuttosport previously reported in June that Premier League rivals West Ham United had moved into pole position for the Juventus midfielder after agreeing to match a £17.5million asking price.

However, it seems like Newcastle are now front-runners to sign Sturaro and he would bolster the options in the centre of the park at St James’ Park.
