Robbie Keane has earmarked Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli for a big season.

Robbie Keane insists that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli could help take the burden off teammate Harry Kane for goals this season.

Spurs centre-forward Kane has been relied upon to be the main source of goals during the last few years, but failed to get on the score sheet in the club’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United at the weekend in their Premier League opener.

Alli netted his first goal of the campaign to earn three points with a header, and the 22-year-old has shown he has a knack of arriving in the right positions to score.

He managed 14 goals across all competitions last season and will hope to better that tally for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this campaign.

Ex-Tottenham striker Keane is expecting Alli to have a big season and mentioned how he could ease the load off Kane.

“Alli’s always going to score goals because he gets in such great positions. We saw that against Newcastle and it was the same at the World Cup,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“I can see him having a big season this year, scoring a lot of goals to help take the burden off Kane a bit.

“There’s always so much pressure on him to score goals so to share it out would help, and Alli is quite capable of doing it.”

The Englishman prides himself on being a goal-scoring midfielder and is constantly under the spotlight to deliver, but is part of a Spurs side that have been pushing at the top end of the table in recent times.
