West Ham should scrap reported £27m Alassane Plea bid and turn to Javier Hernandez

West Ham were too heavily reliant on Marko Arnautovic last season to be a source of goals and new manager Manuel Pellegrini needs to try find a different solution within his squad.
The Hammers are going to need several different goalscorers if they are to push for a European spot and the answer may be staring Pellegrini directly in the face through the shape of Javier Hernandez.
Sky Sports reports that the Londoners have launched a £27million bid to try sign centre-forward Alassane Plea from French club Nice.
Love Island World Cup: If EVERY contestant was an England player.
It is understood that West Ham are in the race for the 25-year-old alongside Premier League rivals Newcastle, Fulham and Tottenham.
Plea is a rapid attacker that did score 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions for Nice last season, but there are numerous occasions on which a prolific scorer in France has gone on to flop in England.
There is no need for Pellegrini splash a near-£30million sum on a new number nine when he should be looking to get the best out of a man currently on the books and should cancel the bid.

Hernandez had a mediocre first season at the London Stadium in the 2017/18 campaign, netting just eight times in 33 appearances.
However, the predatory centre-forward is proven in the Premier League and appears to be rediscovering his best touch for Mexico at the World Cup.

The 30-year-old is no doubt a lethal finisher when a team plays to his strengths and Pellegrini must look to do exactly that, a much better solution than splashing out on a French striker that would be a huge gamble.
