Premier League club Watford have reportedly made a bid for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

According to the Sun, the Hornets have submitted a £10million offer for the Englishman and are waiting to hear if Saints boss Mark Hughes is willing to sell him in the final two days of the summer transfer window.

Ward-Prowse, 23, is a highly-rated talent that is a product of the Southampton academy and now has 205 first-team appearances under his belt.

The central midfielder is renowned for having a brilliant range of passing and he’s also a set-piece specialist.

He has one senior cap for England at international level to date and can also be deployed on the right wing.

Southampton have been highly active this summer so far in the transfer window by securing the captures of Mohamed Elyounoussi, Stuart Armstrong, Angus Gunn and Jannik Vestergaard.

However, they have offloaded the likes of Dusan Tadic, Florin Gardos, Sofiane Boufal (loan) and Jordy Clasie (loan).

Ward-Prowse would be a high-profile departure if he was to leave the club and is a senior figure in the squad despite his age, but it’s unclear if Watford’s approach will tempt the Saints into a sale.
