Report: Ndong, Kone and Djilobodji want Sunderland exit

Three Sunderland players are reportedly pushing to leave the club this summer, with two of them even missing the start of pre-season.

Sunderland trio Didier Ndong, Papy Djilobodji and Lamine Kone are all pursuing exits this summer following the club’s relegation to League One, according to the Daily Mail.

Defender Djilobodji and midfielder Ndong have both been absent for the first two days of pre-season, having gone AWOL on Monday and Tuesday.

It is understood that the Black Cats are assessing their options with the wantaway duo, who both want to depart the Stadium of Light and reduce the wage bill of the club in the process.

Powerhouse centre-back Kone did report for training on Monday, but was not part of the Sunderland squad that travelled to Portugal and is trying to seal his own exit.

All three have to be considered senior players within the Sunderland ranks and were with the club in the Premier League, but are looking to jump ship now after back-to-back relegations.

Midfielder Ndong, 24, featured in the first half of the campaign last season in the Championship, before spending a dull loan spell at Watford where he failed to make a single appearance.

Djilobodji joined the club two years ago from Chelsea and the 29-year-old impressed in Ligue 1 last season on loan at FCO Dijon.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Kone is a no-nonsense centre-back that tried but failed to keep Sunderland in the Championship last term.
