Rangers defender Lee Hodson is reportedly close to completing a move to join Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on loan.

According to the Scottish Sun, St Mirren are near to agreeing a deal to take the right-back on a season-long loan.

It is reported that the 26-year-old has been told by Gers manager Steven Gerrard he is unlikely to feature at Ibrox this season and been advised to move away to find more regular action.

Hodson is yet to get on the pitch for Rangers so far this season, with James Tavernier and Jon Flanagan ahead of him in the pecking order at full-back.

He has been with the Light Blues since 2016 and made 27 first-team appearances during that time, but the Northern Ireland international has never really been a mainstay.

However, he isn’t part of the plans for a new-look Rangers under Gerrard and is near to joining St Mirren.
