Newcastle United are reportedly close to signing free agent Diego Reyes.
According to Calciomercato, the 25-year-old should sign with the Magpies in the coming days and the Premier League side appear to have beaten Italian club Lazio to his signature.
The defender is available on a free transfer after leaving Porto this summer and could be in line for his first taste of the Premier League in the coming season.
Reyes is an experienced centre-back with 55 senior international caps for Mexico, while he has played for Porto, Espanyol and Real Sociedad in European club football.
Rafael Benitez will reportedly make another signing this transfer window and he will join Martin Dubravka, Ki Sung-Yeung and Kenedy (loan) as new arrivals.

Newcastle confirmed on Monday the sale of defender Chancel Mbemba to Porto and that does leave them extremely light of centre-back options in their first-team.
Reyes will be competing alongside Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune and Ciaran Clark if his move to the North East club gets pushed over the line.
Some Newcastle supporters are growing frustrated this summer at the amount of fresh faces joining the club and the lack of spending, but they could be in for a piece of shrewd business by picking up Reyes on a free.
