Marseille have turned down the opportunity to sign Tottenham ace Fernando Llorente.
French top-flight club Marseille have reportedly rejected the chance to sign Tottenham first teamer Fernando Llorente on loan.
According to France Football, the 33-year-old was offered to the Ligue 1 club on loan and they have turned down the approach.
The report details that the centre-forward has asked his advisors to find him a new club after struggling to force his way into Spurs’ plans.
There is still time this summer for the Spaniard to force a move away from the North London club, but he remains the only serious back-up option to striker Harry Kane in the Spurs squad.
Llorente had a difficult first season in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad last year, scoring just five goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.
He has had to play a fringe role behind the club’s talisman Harry Kane and was mainly used as a substitute by Pochettino.
Spurs are still looking to find the right cover for Kane in attack and were confident Llorente could fill that role after scoring 15 Premier League goals in the 2016/17 season for Swansea.
However, it appears like he is trying to force his way through the exit doors, but Marseille will not be his next destination.
