Liverpool reportedly want to finalise a deal for Ajax Under-17 defender Ki-Jana Hoever.

Liverpool are keen to continue strengthening their academy this summer and have allegedly turned their attention to Ajax teenager Ki-Jana Hoever.

The Merseyside club want to finalise a deal for the Dutch defender after he impressed Reds scouts with his performances, according to the Liverpool Echo.

He is a versatile option who can play at either right-back or centre-back and has been performing for Ajax’s Under-17 side.

Hoever, 16, is still very much a work in progress and a star for the future, but Liverpool are allegedly keen to complete a deal for him now.

Senior Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has always been keen to promote youth at Anfield and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is a shining example of that.

Liverpool have already bolstered their academy this summer by snapping up Bobby Duncan from Manchester City and Isaac Christie-Davies from Chelsea.

Liverpool supporters will be glad to see the club are putting a real focus on their academy and know there is a long-term reward from investing in some of the best youngsters across Europe.
