Tottenham are reportedly set to be joined by fellow Premier League club Leicester City in the race for defender Djene Dakonam at Spanish club Getafe.

According to France Football, Leicester are preparing an offer of £31.07million (€35m) this summer and have made contact about his signature with the La Liga side.

The report adds that the Foxes are preparing for life without Harry Maguire amid interest from Manchester United, but target Djene is also on the radar of Spurs, West Ham, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Real Betis.

According to Foot Mercato, Spurs are pushing hard to sign the 26-year-old this summer and their supporters are still waiting for a first bit of summer business.

Djene was a relatively unknown name 12 months ago, but a brilliant season last year with Getafe in the Spanish top flight has seen his reputation rise immensely.

The Togo international was a mainstay for a Getafe team that finished eighth in La Liga in the last campaign and was a no-nonsense enforcer in the heart of defence.

He is certainly not the high-profile name, but Leicester fans will be hoping he can fill the void left by Maguire, should he depart the King Power Stadium following an incredible World Cup showing.
