Leicester City have reportedly stepped up their interest in Monaco attacker Rachid Ghezzal by beginning discussions with the French club today (Friday).

According to L’Equipe, the Foxes have had the 26-year-old on their radar and he is expected to leave for the Premier League this summer.

The report details that Claude Puel’s side started talks for the Algeria international on Friday and that a deal could come about at the weekend.

Le 10 Sport previously reported in July that Ghezzal was a player Leicester were considering following the sale of Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City.

Ghezzal managed 35 appearances across all competitions last season for French heavyweights Monaco, scoring two goals and supplying four assists in return.

He is a wide man renowned for his pace and trickery, while he is most recognised in France for his spell with Lyon.

Leicester must try to fill the void left by Mahrez in the upcoming campaign, with the likes of James Maddison, Marc Albrighton, Fousseni Diabate and Demarai Gray as attacking options for the new season at the King Power Stadium.
