Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen is reportedly close to departing Goodison Park and will be absent from their pre-season match tonight (Thursday).
According to Sky Sports on their transfer centre blog (2:13pm, 26 July), the 25-year-old is close to joining German club Werder Bremen and will not be involved tonight in a friendly match against Blackburn Rovers.
Bremen have agreed a club-record £13.4million fee with the Toffees for Klaassen, but the player is yet to agree a move, according to Bild.
Klaassen endured a difficult first season in English football following his move from Ajax to Goodison Park last summer, where he went from a regular starter to a fringe player.
The Dutchman is an attacking midfielder who struggled to get to grips with the Premier League and looks like he could seal a quick exit from the Merseyside club.
Klaassen was an unused substitute in Everton’s last pre-season match on Sunday against Porto, but he will reportedly not be involved against Blackburn.
The creative play-maker has been unable to recreate the form he showed at Ajax during his spell with Everton and they appear to be cutting their loses with him after just one year.
