Newcastle United’s Rolando Aarons is attracting late interest from a French club.
French Ligue 1 club Caen are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United attacker Rolando Aarons.
According to Foot Mercato, Caen are considering a move for the 22-year-old before the French transfer window closes today (Friday).
Rafael Benitez has previously discussed the possibility of the Englishman going out on loan this summer and even claimed there were a number of teams keen on him, as cited by the Chronicle.
“We have two or three teams interested in him. He will not be in the squad for Forest because I have to decide if he goes on loan,” Benitez said.
“Clearly it will be good for him. He has the potential to be a good player so he must play.”
Aarons is currently on the fringes of the Newcastle squad and a temporary exit away from St James’ Park could be the best solution for him.
The left-winger has made just 27 first-team appearances since coming into the first team, but has never managed to fully cement his spot in the starting XI.
Aarons spent a spell out on loan with Italian club Hellas Verona last season, but failed to make a serious impact as he failed to score or provide any assists during 11 appearances.
He can be a tricky winger that gets at full-backs, but for now he looks a long way off becoming a regular Newcastle starter and a loan to France could be the best way for him to kickstart his career.
