Noel Whelan has delivered his verdict on Leeds United’s fast start to the new season.
Noel Whelan has urged Leeds Untied fans not to get too carried away after a stunning start to the new season under manager Marcelo Bielsa.
The Whites currently having a 100 per cent record under the Argentinian boss following three consecutive victories in the Championship, while they also beat Bolton in an EFL Cup tie.
Bielsa’s side have got past Stoke City, Derby County and Rotherham United so far in the league to send out a message of intent to the rest of the division.
The Yorkshire giants travel to Swansea City on Tuesday night for a league encounter, who are also unbeaten so far this season.
Ex-Leeds striker Whelan has praised his former side for their early season form, but claimed it’s too early for supporters to get carried away with the idea of promotion.
“Everyone seems to be buying into Bielsa’s ideas and demand for hard work and they seem to be thriving with that,” Whelan told Sporting Life’s Championship podcast.
“No Leeds fan should get carried away yet because of the they way it’s gone down hill quickly in previous seasons.
“But right now they are right to be happy with their club, enjoying themselves and to be confident because their team is playing very well right now.”
Leeds have emerged as early favourites for promotion at the beginning of the new campaign, but were in a similar boat after a promising start last year.
They will be hoping to keep up their momentum under Bielsa, who has quickly implemented his attacking and eye-catching style of football on his team at Elland Road.
