Some Newcastle United fans want to see Sean Longstaff and Jamie Sterry involved in the cup.

Newcastle United travel to Championship side Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night in the second round of the EFL Cup, and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are hoping for two fringe figures to be promoted to the starting XI.
A host of Magpies fans on social media are convinced that Sean Longstaff and Jamie Sterry deserve an opportunity to impress against Forest in midweek.
Longstaff, 20, is a central midfielder who has come through the academy at St James’ Park and is still waiting for his first-team debut.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Sterry is a highly-rated right-back at Newcastle and another academy product.
Both were unused substitutes at the weekend in a Premier League defeat to Chelsea, but there are reports that the duo could still exit before the end of August.
According to the Chronicle, the pair are two of four players that could depart before Friday’s loan deadline, as Sterry attracts interest from League One clubs.
The report also adds that Longstaff could end up staying at Newcastle, but Portsmouth want to secure his services after he impressed on loan with Blackpool last season.

Newcastle supporters are keen to see players rise through their youth ranks and have pinpointed those they want to see given a chance to impress manager Rafael Benitez in the cup.
Here is some of the Newcastle fans’ suggestions to play Longstaff and Sterry against Forest:
