Newcastle United fans have reacted to Massadio Haidara joining RC Lens.
Massadio Haidara has completed a move to French side RC Lens on a three-year deal – and Newcastle United fans on Twitter have wished him luck in the future following his exit from St James’ Park.
The 25-year-old defender departed the Magpies this summer when his contract expired and has been snapped up as a free agent by Ligue 2 club Lens, it has been confirmed by the club on Twitter.
He ended his five-year spell in the Premier League to return to his homeland and will hope to get back to regular first-team action after being on the fringes in the North East.

The left-back managed just 54 first-team appearances during his time at Newcastle and only featured two times in Rafael Benitez’s side during the last campaign, something which has led to the club not renewing his contract with them.
Haidara is a rapid left-sided flyer that showed great promise in the early days of his time in English football, but was unable to kick on and was stuck behind Paul Dummet in the pecking order last season.
He was clearly a popular figure at Newcastle despite being on the outskirts and many feel that the shocking challenge by Callum McManaman on him back in 2013 halted his progress with them.
