Tottenham should consider a change of tactics to bring Toby Alderweireld back into the starting XI.

Toby Alderweireld has sensationally ended up staying with Tottenham during the summer transfer window despite repeated speculation of a possible exit, which should now lead to manager Mauricio Pochettino tinkering with his formation.
According to Goal, Manchester United agreed a fee for the 29-year-old defender but were unable to sign him as Spurs failed to find a replacement.
In a huge U-turn the Belgium international now looks set to remain with the North London club despite being frozen out of the starting XI for large parts of last season.
Spurs have to get Alderweireld in the starting XI if they are turning over a new leaf with the player and reverting to a 3-5-2 formation may be the best way to do so.
Centre-backs Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen deserve to keep their starting positions after performing well together in a back four, which is why Alderweireld should slot in alongside them as part of a three-man back-line.

Pochettino has switched between different defensive formations during his time with Spurs and had success with a back three before.
Alderweireld is arguably the best centre-back in the Premier League when he is on form and it’s a no-brainer for Spurs to play him if his immediate future is resolved.
