Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly suffered an injury setback that could see the Belgian miss a couple of months of action – and some of the Liverpool fans on Twitter believe the news has given them a massive boost in the Premier League title race.

According to the Daily Mirror, De Bruyne sustained a knee injury on Wednesday in training during an outdoor session.

The report details that the 27-year-old has suffered ligament damage and could spend at least a couple of months now on the sidelines.

Man City have confirmed on their official website that De Bruyne is undergoing tests on a knee injury and are waiting for more updates.

De Bruyne was absolutely pivotal to Man City’s success last season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 21 assists across all competitions.

The central midfielder helped Pep Guardiola’a side lift the Premier League title and was arguably the standout player last season during a very special year.

However, the reigning league champions may have to find a way without him over the next couple of months and attention may shift onto the likes of David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan to help fill his void.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are expected to be in the mix for the league crown and are viewed as the most likely challengers to Man City.
