Derby County manager Frank Lampard admits he chased the signatures of Mason Mount and Harry Wilson, with the club completing deals for the pair on Tuesday.
Mount, 19, has arrived on a season-long loan from Chelsea and is a goal-scoring midfielder tipped for huge things in the future at Stamford Bridge.
The English teenager was directly involved in 23 goals last season during his loan spell with Dutch top-flight club Vitesse Arnhem.
Meanwhile, right-winger Wilson has joined for the year on loan from Liverpool and is set to add a real attacking drive to team.
The Wales international dazzled on loan at Hull City in the second-half of last season and the 21-year-old will hope for another successful spell away from Anfield.
Lampard has explained the qualities of the two new Derby signings and expects them to be huge additions.
“Two players that I’ve chased because I know the qualities they have,” Lampard told the club’s official website.
“I know Mason first hand from Chelsea and Jody (Morris) worked closely with him in the Chelsea youth team. Followed him there and to Vitesse last season, where he had a fantastic season. Creative, plays from central midfield, an attacking sense, full of energy and scores and create goals.
“Harry, everyone saw what he did last season with Hull in the Championship. Both of them great characters and I think they are both going to bring so much to us hopefully.”
Derby are expected to be one of the teams challenging for promotion next season in the Championship and their business in the transfer window is certainly encouraging for supporters.
Lampard has managed to use his connections at Chelsea to prize away highly-rated midfielder Mount for a season and it will be interesting to see if he can live up to his potential.
