Kalvin Phillips believes that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is already imprinting his style on the team.
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has explained that he thinks the methods of new boss Marcelo Bielsa are beginning to be installed into the team already.
The 63-year-old Argentinian arrived as manager at Elland Road in the summer and is renowned for playing an expansive attacking style of football.
Phillips, 22, will hope to play an important role for the Whites in the upcoming campaign, as they look to fight for promotion in the Championship.
He believes Bielsa is the right man at the helm of the Yorkshire club and is tipping the team to put his possession-based philosophy into action.
“He’s (Bielsa) got a great reputation, when we first heard about it we were very surprised, but just very excited to get in and work in pre-season under him and I think it has gone very well,” Phillips told talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams.
“They’ve done very well to get him and I think it will be a very good thing for the club.
“Just looking forward to getting out on the pitch and showing what the manager has been putting into our heads. I think if we do that confidently, which I think we are doing, we will have a very good chance of making this club very successful then.”
Leeds ended up someway off the pace last season in terms of a play-off spot and will need vast improvements to be at the top end of the league table this time around.
However, they have made some impressive additions so far in the transfer window through the shape of Patrick Bamford, Barry Douglas, Lewis Baker (loan), Jack Harrison (loan) and Jamal Blackman (loan).
Many believe they can replicate Wolves after they stormed to the Championship title last season with some eye-catching performances, but Leeds fans have seen several managers come and go in recent years.
