Liverpool manager Jurgen Klpp has revealed he expects attacker Sheyi Ojo to depart on loan this summer and went as far as to say it is a “no-brainer”.

According to a report from the Sun on Sunday (Page 63, 29 July), Middlesbrough have been in talks over a £10million deal for the 21-year-old.

Klopp has explained that the right-winger is more likely to leave Anfield on a temporary basis and competition for spots in the first team are extremely competitive in the final third, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Xherdan Shaqiri and Roberto Firmino as options.

“Ojo played a fantastic pre-season, really good and confident technically anyway, really strong, improved a lot in tactical things and his attitude was great,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“For me, he is a no-brainer, to be honest, and I think that will happen. It makes sense for him to go on loan. That’s how it is for a few of the others.

Ojo has been involved in Liverpool’s pre-season this summer, but it looks like he could be on the move before the close of the transfer window on 9 August to join another team.

He has spent time out on loan in recent years with Fulham, Wolves and Wigan to try help him develop by playing regular football.

Liverpool confirmed on Wednesday that highly-rated youngster Ben Woodburn has left the Merseyside club on loan to join Sheffield Unite and Ojo could be another that fits into that category.
