Jermaine Jenas claims Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino would be keen on the Manchester United job in future.
Jermaine Jeans has explained he can see manager Mauricio Pochettino leaving Tottenham and believes he would be interested in taking charge at Manchester United.
The 46-year-old Argentinian has done a brilliant job in transforming Spurs in recent years to top four regulars, but his wait to win silverware continues.
His side were the only club in the Premier League not to sign a player in the summer transfer window, but they have kept hold of key players such as Harry Kane.
Ex-Spurs midfielder Jenas has suggested that Pochettino’s future may be elsewhere and is adamant that a move to Old Trafford would be possible if current boss Jose Mourinho departed.
“I think they’ve (Man United) been after him (Pochettino) for a long time to be honest with you,” Jenas told the Daily Star.
“It’d be a huge test. I think deep down that’s the one Pochettino wants. There’s only United and Real Madrid that I think really take his fancy.
“If that did happen [Mourinho leaves Man Utd], it would not surprise me if United go really hard for Pochettino. And, given what’s happened at Spurs, I’d be surprised if he stayed.”
Mourinho is now entering the dreaded third season at Man United, where he has notoriously struggled at other clubs in the past.
His style of play has not quite captured the imagination of all Man United supporters, while in contrast Pochettino has his side playing an expansive attacking style of football.
Pochettino is for now very much still the Spurs manager and will be keen to end his trophy drought this season.
