Rangers ace James Tavernier has hailed the improvement of the defence.

Rangers defender and captain James Tavernier believes that his side’s backline is well equipped going into the new season.
The Gers have a league campaign just around the corner and know they have plenty of work to do in order to cut the 12-point deficit from last season to reigning champions Celtic.
They are now under new management in the shape of Steven Gerrard and he’s made numerous changes to the defence, with right-back Tavernier the sole survivor as it stands from the last campaign.
Goalkeeper Allan McGregor, centre-backs Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, plus left-back Jon Flanagan have given the Light Blues a fresh resilience in defence.
Tavernier, 27, expects his side to push for the league title and praised his defensive teammates.
“We’re Rangers so we always have to be challenging for the title. You can’t expect nothing less,” Tavernier told Sky Sports.
“We know we are always going to make chances in the opposition’s final third, but obviously we wanted to keep more goals out of our net and I feel like the players we have this season have got a good chance of that.”

Rangers have kept three consecutive clean sheets in their Europa League matches so far this season to highlight the rapid improvement.
The Scottish giants conceded 50 league goals last season compared to Celtic’s 25 and Gerrard has been quick to fix the problem area.
Tavernier appears to be in for another busy season as Rangers’ first-choice right-back and he offers so much to the team offensively as well as defensively.
The English ace has one goal and two assists in the three European games so far, with the second leg against NK Osijek taking place on Thursday.
