Where will Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit into the club’s plans this season?

There is a huge buzz around Everton after a busy summer transfer window and the appointment of manager Marco Silva, but new arrivals may not be good for everybody.

Toffees attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin enjoyed a breakout season last year in the first-team and it will be interesting to see where he slots into the picture under Silva.

The 21-year-old is a versatile attacker who can play as a centre-forward or a winger; something which made him an important member of the senior squad last season.

He managed eight goals and seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions, with the England Under-21 international tipped for big things.

Calvert-Lewin was an unused substitute for the Merseyside club in the first Premier League game of the season, as they drew 2-2 away at newcomers Wolves.

There may surely be a risk of him taking a step backwards under Silva this campaign if he cannot enjoy regular game time, and the fact that Everton have no European football will not help in that regard.

Calvert-Lewin now has a tough battle to force his way into the starting XI as either the striker or a wide man.

Silva currently have the likes of Richarlison, Bernard, Sandro Ramirez, Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott, Ademola Lookman, Oumar Niasse and Calvert-Lewin to choose from in forward areas.

It may be a case of the latter staking his claim early into the season for Everton and grabbing Silva’s attention to ensure he is not on the fringes for large parts of the year.
