Gary Lineker has joked with Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane on Twitter about his August goal drought.

Harry Kane has proved in the last few years that he is the best centre-forward in the Premier League, but remarkably he still has a dark cloud hanging over his head when it comes to scoring in August.

The England captain has now played 14 Premier League games throughout his career in the month of August and is yet to score in any of them.

His August hoodoo is quite bizarre given he has netted 108 times in 154 top flight league matches, but his poor run stretched even further at the weekend.

Kane failed to get on the score sheet during Spurs’ 2-1 away win over Newcastle on Saturday, but he still has league matches with Fulham and Manchester United this month to try to end his unwanted run.

Gary Lineker has poked fun at the Spurs striker on social media regarding his August drought by stating he bets Kane wished the season started in September.

Kane will be confident of another successful year for Tottenham and will be hoping to beat his tally of 41 goals across all competitions from last season.

The 25-year-old goal machine is a vital part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side in attack and Fernando Llorente remains the main back-up option behind him.
