Everton are reportedly interested in Roma centre-forward Gregoire Defrel, but manager Marco Silva should rip up plans for a move as soon as possible.
The Toffees, Crystal Palace and West Ham are all keen on the 27-year-old this summer, according to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport.
It is understood the Frenchman wants to try prove himself at Roma after a poor first season with them last year and the Merseyside club should stay well away from him.
Defrel managed just one goal in 20 appearances for Serie A club Roma last season, while he has a modest total of 28 goals in 112 Serie A matches.
He is certainly not the attacker that could take Everton to the next level in the coming years and is meant to be at the peak of his powers now.
Silva does already have strikers Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in his squad at Goodison Park ahead of next season, which is why any new attacking arrival has to be an improvement on the starting XI.
Defrel would definitely be too big a risk for Everton and they would be much better served signing a proven Premier League talent, while there is still a big chance that Tosun can be the man to successfully lead the line.
