Everton creator Gylfi Sigurdsson will know that he underperformed last year during his first season at Goodison Park and has a make or break campaign coming up.

The Toffees forked out a colossal £45million to land the attacking midfielder from Swansea City back in 2017, according to BBC Sport.

He showed glimpses of his qualities for the Merseyside club, scoring six goals and supplying five assists in 33 games across all competitions.

However, the Iceland international certainly has another gear to reach that he hasn’t quite yet shown for the Merseyside club and will hope it all falls into place for him him in the coming season.

Sigurdsson can be one of the most effective playmakers in the Premier League on his day with his stunning vision and execution, something new manager Marco Silva will be looking to unlock.

Sigurdsson has it within himself to be a £40million-plus player by impacting games on a regular basis for Everton and has tormented Premier League defences in the past.

He should now have the pressure on him to be the talisman for Everton and having him at the heart of the team could be a sensible move to take.

The departure of Wayne Rooney should help Sigurdsson, who will likely be able to play in his preferred position, having been pushed out to the wing by former Sam Allardyce.
