Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has claimed that West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere could have a huge impact at the weekend when the two teams clash at the London Stadium.

The Hammers host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon and will be looking to bounce back from an opening day defeat to Liverpool, while the visitors defeated Cardiff in their first fixture.

Wilshere is now a West Ham player after joining in the summer, and the English midfielder looks like he will be a regular under Manuel Pellegrini. The 26-year-old previously spent a season out on loan at Bournemouth from Arsenal, where he helped regain some form and fitness.

Howe has seen the quality of Wilshere first hand from managing him and claims that he could pose a major threat to his side at the weekend.

“It was good to see Jack Wilshere when we played Arsenal last season, he could have a big bearing on the game and it’s up to us to stop him,” Howe said in his pre-match press conference.

Wilshere played in a number 10 role for West Ham during the loss to Liverpool, with Mark Noble and Declan Rice slotting in behind him.

The technically gifted midfielder is likely to see far more of the ball against Bournemouth and will be keen to show West Ham supporters what he can do following his switch from Arsenal.
