Eddie Gray has hailed Leeds United’s Samuel Saiz for his display against Preston.

Leeds United suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Preston North End in the Carabao Cup, but club legend Eddie Gray singled out Samuel Saiz for his positive display.
The Whites were eliminated from the League Cup following a 2-0 loss at Elland Road, with Daniel Johnson and Brandon Barker on the score-sheet for Preston.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were playing against just 10 men after a red card in the 29th minute to Ryan Ledson, but were nowhere near their free-flowing best.
Leeds remain unbeaten in the league and their focus appears to be on promotion, with the manager making nine changes for the Preston clash.
Bielsa did try to get back in the game at half-time with some positive substitutions and first-team regular Saiz was introduced to try make an impact.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder was unable to unlock the door for his side, but showed some real moments of quality on the ball and looked the most likely goal source.
Gray highlighted the individual efforts of the Spaniard after the game and feels he made an impact.
“I thought Saiz did well when he came on tonight,” Gray told LUTV.
“He looked as if he was the man that could change the game. I think on Friday night [against Middlesbrough] we will be on song.”

Leeds now have a quick turnaround before facing Boro on Friday, with the two clubs locked together at the top of the Championship table.
Saiz is surely one of the regulars that will be drafted back into the side for the league encounter and the playmaker is one of the outstanding players in the squad.
