West Ham’s midfield target Harry Arter could reportedly be sold by Premier League outfit Bournemouth this summer.
West Ham were very keen on signing Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter back in January. With the Cherries reportedly keen on selling their number eight, the Hammers should reignite their interest.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (10:30pm, 18 July), Bournemouth could cash in on the 28-year-old midfielder in this transfer window.
The report claims that the Republic of Ireland international is still a target for West Ham, and that Bournemouth are prepared to offload as they launch a £17million bid for Jefferson Lerma of Spanish club Levante.
According to a report from the Daily Express back in March, West Ham were lining up a £10million bid to try sign Arter this summer after having two bids rejected in January.
Arter has been with Bournemouth since 2010 and become a true fan favourite, but he slipped out of favour last season and managed just 16 appearances in all competitions.
The central midfielder is a pass master that has proven himself to be a tidy player in the top flight, but there may not be room for him at the London Stadium.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini already has the likes of Pedro Obiang, Mark Noble, Jack Wilshere, Cheikhou Kouyate and Edimilson Fernandes competing for a spot in the centre of the park.
Arter would be another tidy midfield option if he was added to the Hammers squad, but guaranteeing regular first-team action could be difficult.
Playmaker Wilshere has already been added to the ranks this summer and it will be interesting to see if West Ham feel they could squeeze Arter into their plans.
The Bournemouth ace has fallen out of the picture somewhat at his current side though and a fresh move to reignite his carer could be smart for him.
