Danny Murphy has praised the improvement of Tottenham attacker Lucas Moura.
Danny Murphy believes that Tottenham’s Lucas Moura looks fitter at the beginning of the season and hailed the influence of manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Brazilian attacker has started the new campaign superbly, with three goals in his opening three Premier League games.
His stunning brace earned his side a 3-0 victory away to Manchester United last weekend and Spurs are one of four teams that have made a 100 per cent winning start to the league.
Moura has had to be patient since joining the North London club in January from Paris Saint-Germain, but is now beginning to show his true quality.
The speed machine operated alongside Harry Kane in attack against Man United and was effective in a central role.
Ex-Spurs midfielder Murphy is adamant that a lot of Moura’s improvement in recent months is down to the manager, who has a knack of getting the best out of his players.
“Moura didn’t get going last season, he came in and I saw him three times live and he was very good and I thought they’ve got a player here,” Murphy said on Sky Sports’ The Debate (10:40pm, 28 August).
“He is obviously fitter, Pochettino has worked with him and the way he improves players is tremendous. He’s got that pace and ability to beat people.”
The early signs are that Moura is a little sharper this season and he has pace to burn that should frighten Premier League defenders.
The 26-year-old proved during his time with PSG that he can be a serious goal threat and is currently filling in excellently at Spurs during Heung-Min Son’s absence whilst playing at the Asian Games.
